2027 Focus on Moremi Photo Workshop

bythom INT BOTS Okavango2024 Z91 12140

Dates: August 27th to September 9th, 2027

Short Description: This new workshop spends twelve nights in one of the animal-rich areas within Botswana, Moremi. We’ll be just south of the Xakanaxa area most of the time, working the section where the Okavango Delta dwindles into the sands of central Botswana. At this time of year, water sources are more scarce, so we’ll be monitoring them heavily.

We’ll be using our high-end mobile tented camp for this workshop, only it won’t be very mobile. The goal of staying in one area for a long period of time is to get a chance to witness the full cycles of the animals. How they manage their territories, when and how they eat, and yes, how they rest. This area has lions, leopards, cheetah, wild dogs, and virtually all of the other animals you associate with Africa (giraffe, cape buffalo, elephants, etc.).

We’ll use more than our Land Cruisers in this workshop, with a day out boating in the Delta itself, and another session using helicopters to photograph from above.

Only six students can sign up for this workshop (be sure to get on the wait list if you’re interested, as if anyone has to drop out, that’s where we first look for replacements). Every mid-day Thom will be teaching in our main tent. But most of our days will be spent in the Land Cruisers tracking various animals.

We only put three students in each of our vehicles, so there's plenty of room for your gear. Every vehicle has a very experienced driver guide, and Thom will be in the front seat of one vehicle.

This workshop has a special optional extension option deep in the middle of the Okavango Delta, at Maxa Lodge, where we’ll be using boats and Land Cruisers to photograph everything in and around the water at the top of the Delta for two extra days.

Cost: Africa is not inexpensive. We provide first class food, lodging, and facilities throughout, as well as top-level instruction and guiding. We’ve worked hard to keep our prices from experiencing the same inflation you’re probably encountered at home. US$17,995, plus US$645 park fees and US$695 for our internal flight cost to and from Maun.

Other: This workshop is limited to six students.

Signups: Call Lisa Laferte at Wilderness Travel (800-368-2794).
