Intellectual Partners, the patent aggregating entity backed by former Microsoftee Nathan Myhrvold, has sued Nikon over touchscreen, sensor, and virtual reality patents. The two sensor patents are a 2000 Motorola patent (US6,221,686) and a Hynix 2002 patent (US6,979,587). Canon was earlier sued over these same patents (plus others). The Hynix patent has to do with supressing dark current, the Motorola patent has to do with the light efficiency of a CMOS sensor.
