We've entered the final phase of our Spring Cleaning. Both Tony and I found a few more items as we dug deeper in our gear closets.

Original Message: Hey, it's still Spring and I'm actually getting around to my yearly Spring cleaning (in previous years it usually happened in fall). Welcome to ThomBay, where there are no auctions and items disappear faster than you can bid on them anyway. If you inquire about one of my items, you'll hear directly from me; if you inquired about one of Tony's items, you'll hear directly from him.

Every year I clean the office and get rid of items that aren't getting a lot of use or which I no longer need. As with last year, my assistant Tony is doing some cupboard cleaning as he's about to move, so we have an extra bushel of offerings.

Here's how this works: first come, first served. US and Canadian orders only, please (please identify yourself as Canadian when you email, it makes it easier to know which items need to have a discussion about shipping options). Sending any of this stuff overseas adds paperwork, complexity, and hassle, and I'm trying to make this simple and fast for me. I'll update this page every day, if possible, so that the items on it are still likely to be available.

  1. If you see something below that you'd like, send me an email indicating you'd like to purchase it. All items have an item number just in front of them. Please make sure you include this so that we don't get confused on similar items. Unless otherwise indicated, the prices below include regular USPS or Ground shipping (and insurance for items over $200) in the US unless otherwise noted (for faster shipping, you'll need to supply me with your FedEx or UPS account number). All items are sent with delivery confirmation, and expensive items are generally shipped with signature required. Canadian residents may need to pay additional shipping for some items, will have things shipped via Postal Service or UPS, and there will be a correct customs form on the box (don't ask me to change the amount paid, it's illegal to do so). What you see on the Customs Form is what you paid, period.
  2. If you're the first to email me about purchasing the item, I'll send you the information that'll allow you to complete the purchase (credit cards will be accepted through PayPal).
  3. When payment is received, the item gets shipped the following Wednesday when my assistant comes in to do shipping. If payment isn't received in a timely fashion, I'll put the item back up for sale.

I've tried to provide a short, accurate description of each item. If you have a question about an item, feel free to email me, but remember, this is first-come, first-served. I expect many of these items to go very quickly, so asking questions decreases the chance that you'll get an item, unfortunately. Note that I've priced my things below what I'd likely get off an eBay auction (especially once you consider that shipping is included). Tony's items are a bit closer to eBay prices because everyone knows photo assistants need to make every penny count. Those that have dealt with me before know that this stuff is in great shape and that I often throw free surprises into the box.

  • h106: Ektachrome FILM!. 20 Rolls Ektachrome Slide Duplicating Film, 36 exp, dated 8-1992. All film has been kept refrigerated since acquisition, but caveat emptor. Nevertheless, I suspect the film is fine--it's still in original sealed pack. Reason for selling: I don't do slide duplication any more. $30 includes shipping.

  • m10: Jobu Jr, from Jobu designs, original model with hard plastic tension knobs. Excellent condition, $99
  • m31: Kirk BL-D100. L-clamp for D100, allen wrench included. Excellent condition, $60

  • M121: Orion Traveltech Field Tripod. This is small tripod designed for use with spotting scopes. It is a 4 sections tripod with quick release clamps on the legs and a Fluid Pan Head with 1/4”-20 mount. Comes with original box and instructions, $30
  • M122: Bose Quiet Comfort 3 Noise Cancelling Headsphones. This comes in the original box, with instructions and all accessories and one spare battery. I’ve had this for several years so it is an older model of the QC3. Very good condition, $199
  • m125: Wimberley Module 5 Brackets for WH-100 or WH-101 head. Shipping included in the US. $24

  • h6: D70 Converted to IR (Lifepixel). Excellent condition. Comes with all accessories, manual, and box. Selling because I updated to a D200 IR. $499.

  • m63: B&W 486 UV/IR Cut filter without box with protective case, 62 mm filter, Excellent condition. $40
  • M79: Really Right Stuff Panning Clamp. This is the original panning clamp from RRS. It weighs only 8.4 oz and is designed to replace the clamp on the RRS ball heads. It’s knobs are smaller than the current PCL-1, it can not be mounted on a 3/8” post as it is not threaded and it has a white leveling bubble and no top markings. It does not come with holder. Screw for mounting to ball head included. Allen Wrench included. Very Good condition, $120
  • M93: Really Right Stuff MPR-73 3/8. This is the 73mm rail with 3/8” screw instead of more standard 1/4”-20 screw, Allen wrench included. Very Good condition, $25
